Hallmark University Donates in Support of the ADA’s Tour de Cure
Hallmark University hosted representatives from the American Diabetes Association to commemorate the universities donation of $5,000 towards the ADA’s 2017 Tour de Cure. The ADA’s website states, “The 2017 Central South Texas Tour de Cure is a walking, running, and cycling event for all participants of all ages and ability, ranging from the 1-mile family walk/run/ride, or 10-mile cycling route to the 100-mile Century ride.” The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and funding for research to help fight and cure diabetes. According to the ADA, “nearly 30 million battle diabetes every day and every 23 seconds someone new is diagnosed.”
Hallmark’s donation to the event is in memory of students and loved ones who have been affected by diabetes, as well as the victims of diabetes across the South Texas Community. For the past 4 years, Hallmark has maintained an extensive history of involvement with the ADA including sponsorship, building teams for ADA events, fundraising for the ADA, and volunteering at ADA events. Additionally, Hallmark University Provost, Donald “Jay” Gregson, serves on the ADA Community Leadership Board.
The upcoming Tour de Cure is scheduled for October 28, 2017, and will take place at San Marcos High School located at 2601 E McCarty Ln, San Marcos, Texas.
