We at Hallmark University were honored to have so many bright high school students from all around the San Antonio metropolitan area participate in the August Security + Summer Intensive Program which dove deep into information security and the foundational principles for securing a network and managing risk.
Students who participated in the two-week program diligently explored cybersecurity principals and experienced a condensed version of the Hallmark University course “Fundamentals of Information Security” which is normally absorbed by Hallmark University students over an 8-week term. Despite the accelerated pace, the students managed to keep up with their assignments and some have already earned their CompTIA Security+ Certification, which is a required industry certification for many cybersecurity professionals.
The August program was concluded with an awards ceremony that highlighted the students’ hard work and featured prestigious speakers including Shaun Williams with San Antonio Tecosystem and Lorenzo Gomez, Executive Director of the 80/20 Foundation, who testified to the importance and industry need for talented information security professionals. After the ceremony, students conversed with attending camp sponsors, industry representatives, and faculty.
Hallmark University would like to thank the students for joining us this summer and the program partners Digital Defense Incorporated, IP Secure, Southwest Research Institute, the 80/20 Foundation, Abacus (sg), SAISD Foundation, Y&L Consulting, TRiO and the Cyber Texas Foundation for financial support.
