National Report Highlights Need for RNs to Earn BSN by 2020
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (Formerly known as the Institute of Medicine) have called for the number of nurses with a bachelor’s degree or higher to be increased from 50% to 80% by the year 2020. In its report titled The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, the organization states, “Major changes in the U.S. health care system and practice environment will require equally profound changes in the education of nurses both before and after they receive their license. […] To respond to the demands of an evolving health care system and meet the changing needs of patients, nurses must achieve higher levels of education and training. One step in realizing this goal is for a greater number of nurses to enter the workforce with a baccalaureate degree or progress to this degree early in their career.”
Local University Launches “2020 BSN Initiative” to Support Needs of Texas RN’S
With BSN degrees approaching a prerequisite level for the nursing industry and Texas having the second largest amount of RN’s per state in the U.S., Hallmark University is launching a “2020 BSN Initiative” to support the needs of Texas nurses pursuing their BSN degrees. Hallmark is offering a $4,000 scholarship to any Texas RN who chooses to earn their BSN with Hallmark. For RN’s in association with any of Hallmark’s BSN healthcare partners and providers, a $2,000 scholarship is available in addition to the $4,000 scholarship totaling $6,000 in scholarship opportunities. The scholarship fund is limited and is being distributed by the university as first come, first served. Hallmark has a long history of fulfilling industry needs related to education and the university plans to continue in like tradition with the implementation of the new initiative.
Hallmark University Offers an Accelerated and Affordable BSN Program
Hallmark’s RN-BSN program is 14 months and classes can be taken either online or in the classroom (located in San Antonio, Texas). For students who choose to physically attend Hallmark, they’ll see that the “classroom” is more like learning in an active hospital. Hallmark’s instructors are regarded as highly trained individuals who specialize in delivering the kind of personal attention that leads to student success. Classes for the RN to BSN program begin every 8 weeks, and Hallmark is currently enrolling.
